Walk for Archie, an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about sepsis in memory of Archie William Read. Archie tragically passed away from sepsis on his first birthday, August 23, 2022. Our mission is to ensure that no other family endures such a devastating loss.
Each year on a Saturday close to World Sepsis Day, we ask that you take the time to put on some blue and do a Walk for Archie. Doing this honours his memory and spreads crucial awareness about sepsis prevention.
Join us in this meaningful cause as we walk together to protect the lives of children and support affected families.
Each year the family and friends of Archie gather at Speers Point Lake Macquarie for the Walk for Archie – a place where Archie and his mum cherished their walks together.
We take a 6km walk starting and finishing at Speers Point Sailing Club.
Be sure to wear blue to show your support. Walk for Archie merchandise can also be purchased to show your support, see Merchandise below for details.
If you can’t walk with us, then please just take a walk in blue wherever you can.
And please don’t forget to help spread the word by taking a pic and tagging Walk for Archie on Instagram or Facebook.
Thank you

Archie William Read had blonde hair, blue eyes, and the world’s biggest smile. His favourite moments were spent in the bath with his sister Charlotte, where his love for the water shone brightly. His ability to connect deeply, as if he could look through to your soul, was truly special.
Archie’s life, though short, was filled with pure happiness and love. He left us on his first birthday, due to an infection called Group A Streptococcus, which tragically turned into Sepsis. Despite his brief time with us, his impact was profound and unforgettable.
We cherish the memories of his bright spirit and the joy he brought to everyone around him. In honour of Archie, we are dedicated to raising awareness about sepsis to ensure no other family has to endure this avoidable pain. By sharing his story, we hope to spread knowledge and understanding, preventing others from facing a similar tragedy.
Archie will forever remain in our hearts, remembered for his incredible smile and the love he shared.
To read more about what happened to Archie see the Tiny Hearts blog.
To help with our goal of raising awareness to prevent deaths from sepsis, we ask for any donation that you can make. Money raised is given to Sepsis Australia to assist them in their mission to raise awareness about sepsis.
To help spread awareness, Sports Clique have kindly designed Walk for Archie merchandise. Wear them proudly on the walk in September or anytime you’d like to help us raise awareness.
Please note merchandise must be ordered before 31st July if you intend to wear it at this year’s Walk for Archie.
